Personal liberties transcend the constitution. You can do whatever you want with your properties (including money) unless the law prohibits or limits that freedom.

One of those limits is Taxation. Parliament has made sure that they present taxation as a legal duty and as a measure that does not breach human rights. They say it is because taxes are in the public interest and after all, they are progressive (the less you earn, the less you pay)

So the official narrative is, lets deprive ourselves of our properties for the greater good.
